Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using authorloft.com. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.
AuthorLoft is operated by Anthony P Bedford LLC, 713 Fish Camp Rd., Chelsea, Alabama 35043 ("AuthorLoft", "we", "us"). References to "the Service" mean the AuthorLoft platform, including authorloft.com, author websites hosted on the platform, and the admin dashboard.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
AuthorLoft provides a platform for authors to create and manage their own author websites, including book catalogs, reader newsletters, courses, music lists, and digital sales. We provide tools; content and responsibility for that content remain with the individual author.
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
AuthorLoft offers Free, Standard, and Premium subscription plans. Current pricing and plan features are displayed on our Pricing and Plans page. Paid plans are available on a monthly or annual basis. Annual plans are offered at a discounted rate as shown on the Pricing and Plans page.
By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize AuthorLoft to charge your payment method on each billing date. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, as you selected) at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing management portal in your admin dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. New subscribers may request a full refund within 30 days of their first paid subscription payment, whether they chose a monthly or an annual plan. This guarantee applies to your initial subscription only and does not apply to subsequent renewals or to plan upgrades between paid tiers. To request a refund, you must contact AuthorLoft support directly. An approved refund ends your paid plan and moves your account to the Free plan. Your content is not deleted because of a refund.
After 30 days, all payments are non-refundable. No partial refunds, credits, or exceptions will be made for cancellations, downgrades, or unused portions of any billing period, including annual subscriptions. Annual plans are billed once per year, and once the 30-day guarantee period has passed the annual payment is non-refundable.
If a payment is unsuccessful, AuthorLoft's payment processor (Stripe) will automatically retry the charge. During this retry period you will receive email notifications advising you to update your payment method. If payment cannot be collected after the retry period, your account will be automatically restricted.
A restricted account means your public-facing author site and paid plan features will be suspended. You will still be able to log in to your admin dashboard to update your payment information.
To reinstate a restricted account, you must contact AuthorLoft support and provide confirmation of successful payment. Reinstatement is subject to review and approval. AuthorLoft is not liable for any loss of business, traffic, or revenue resulting from account restriction due to failed payment.
You may upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan at any time through the billing management portal in your admin dashboard.
Upgrades take effect immediately. You will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of your current billing period.
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You will retain full access to your current plan's features until the downgrade becomes effective. No refund is issued for the remaining period on the higher-tier plan.
You can cancel or downgrade at any time. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, and then your account moves to the Free plan. Your site stays live, and your books, posts, courses, music lists, subscribers, and other content are kept. Features that are not part of the Free plan, such as a custom domain, are paused.
Each plan limits how much content you can have published, such as the number of books, courses, music lists, and blog posts. These limits are shown on our Pricing and Plans page. If you have more published than your new plan allows, you have 30 days from the change to upgrade, or to choose what stays live by unpublishing or deleting items. We email you at the start of that period and again before it ends, and we show a notice in your dashboard.
After the 30 days, we unpublish, but do not delete, the items beyond your plan’s limits. If you have not chosen, we keep live the items that come first in the order shown in your dashboard (the newest, for blog posts). Unpublished items stay in your account. If you upgrade or resubscribe, we restore them automatically, up to your new plan’s limits.
A custom domain is a paid feature. If your plan no longer includes it, then after the same 30 days your custom domain redirects visitors to your AuthorLoft address (yourname.authorloft.com). We keep your domain setting, so it resumes if you resubscribe.
We do not delete your content because you cancel, downgrade, or receive a refund. Content is deleted only if you delete it, if you ask us to delete your account, or if we terminate your account as described below.
You retain all rights to content you upload or create on the platform (book descriptions, cover images, blog posts, etc.). By uploading content, you grant AuthorLoft a limited, non-exclusive license to display and deliver that content as necessary to operate the Service.
You represent and warrant that you own, or have all necessary rights and licenses to use and publish, everything you upload to the platform, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
AuthorLoft and its logo, design, and platform software are owned by AuthorLoft and protected by intellectual property laws.
AuthorLoft responds to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act as described on our Copyright and DMCA Policy page (https://www.authorloft.com/dmca). We may remove or disable access to content that is the subject of a valid notice, and we will terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of repeat infringers. Notices of infringement should be sent to our designated agent at dmca@authorloft.com.
If you send newsletters or other email to your readers through the Service, you are solely responsible for complying with applicable email and privacy laws, including the CAN-SPAM Act and, where applicable, the GDPR. This includes sending only to people who have signed up or otherwise given permission, honoring unsubscribe requests promptly, including a working unsubscribe link, and including a valid physical postal address in your messages.
You agree not to: - Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms - Upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights - Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service - Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service - Use the Service to send unsolicited communications (spam) - Impersonate any person or entity
Authors who sell digital goods through AuthorLoft are solely responsible for fulfilling those sales, providing accurate product descriptions, and complying with applicable consumer protection laws. AuthorLoft acts as a platform intermediary only.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing management portal in your admin dashboard, and what happens next is described in Cancellation, Downgrades and Plan Limits above. You may also ask us to delete your account and its content at any time by emailing privacy@authorloft.com. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, including repeated copyright infringement, and in serious cases we may remove the account’s content.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AuthorLoft shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Alabama and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Shelby County, Alabama, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
